Public Cloud, Private Cloud or Hybrid

The terms themselves can be confusing and choosing the right approach daunting.

In a public cloud a third-party provider such as Microsoft Azure makes their computing resources such as virtual machines, storage, applications and security available to use over the internet. Configuration options exist to suit virtually any scenario. Public clouds use a multi-tenant approach which means you’re allocated resources on a shared platform but your data remains segregated. It uses a subscription model so you only pay for what you need and often on a per minute basis, allowing you to quickly respond to demands and workload.

In the private cloud scenario you have complete control over the environment. You often pay for allocated resources that are provisioned exclusively for your needs on site or in a third-parties data centre. It equally shares the benefits of being able to scale on demand but is typically suited to organisations who have requirements to meet additional regulatory compliance, security or governance standards.

A hybrid approach is a popular option for organisations starting out on their cloud journey or who have needs not exclusively suited to either public or private clouds. This approach offers businesses the ability to mix and match which workloads are serviced by the cloud and which remain on-site. For example, businesses can move intensive workloads which are subject to spikes in demand to the cloud and keep mission-critical data or systems on-site.

We’ve been working with our customers to deliver flexible, scalable and affordable for years, help them adopt and take advantage of modern approaches to common business challenges.
